Session 1

Title: Lawyers? Hedge Fund Managers? Developers!

A show and tell on how to code Smart Contracts on Ethereum, and how this new tech will make software developers the new lawyers and fund managers.

Facilitator: Cornelius Gows

Cornelius is the co-founder & CEO of Octobase, a company that focuses on writing consumer facing software for public blockchains to provide better security and usability in storing and managing your cryptocurrencies. He also co-founded Dreamtec a software company, focused on the insurance industry (with software solutions and services used by almost all of South African insurances and their service providers) and before that was the technical lead for various Artificial Intelligence projects, focusing mostly on Computer Vision. When not involved in software and starting new companies, he likes simulating murder as a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner.

Session 2

Title: Redux without boilerplate

Redux (normally used with React, and sometimes with Angular) is a great way to manage state in Single-Page Applications. However, Redux has one disadvantage lost of boilerplate. Boilerplate is a code smell, and should be avoided. In this talk I will share how to a library (built on redux-observables, ie, RxJS) which allows us to use redux without any boilerplate.

Facilitator: Jan-Jan van der Vyver

I love programming. Currently I enjoy JavaScript (react/redux/node) and Julia (for Machine Learning and AI).
