A weekend in and around the Georgian city of Bath

Join us for a weekend in and around the beautiful Georgian city of Bath. On the Saturday we’ll meet outside Bath Spa train station at midday and undertake The Bath Skyline Walk. This is a scenic 6-mile circular route managed by the National Trust, offering panoramic views over the World Heritage city of Bath from surrounding hills, passing through woodlands, meadows, and farmland.

The walk provides varied perspectives of the city, including landmarks like the Roman Baths and Georgian architecture, and features unique points of interest like hidden valleys, limestone flowers, and poetry benches. Please bring or purchase a packed lunch to take on the walk as the only cafe we’ll visit is at the end.

Following the walk there will be time to check into accommodation before meeting at the Ponte Vecchio restaurant near Bath’s historic Pulteney Bridge, at 7.30pm for dinner https://pontevecchiobath.com.

On the Sunday we’ll meet at Bath Spa station at 10.20am and take the 10.35am train the short distance to Bradford on Avon. This pretty town is known for its scenic walks, Saxon Church, the Tithe Barn, and Alex Moulton’s former Jacobean residence, as well as its wealth of independent shops, restaurants, bars and cafes. We’ll take a seven miles walk along the Kennet and Avon Canal and River Avon taking in the villages of Avoncliff, Iford and Freshford. We’ll stop for lunch at the Galleries Cafe at a Freshford, followed by tea and cake at No 10 Tea Garden at Avoncliff. We’ll then return to Bath on the 4.13pm train where the event ends.

At the time of writing there are some affordable accommodation options in Bath available, including Tyndall Villa and The Z Hotel. Please arrange your own accommodation and book early. If you’d like to attend just part of the event that’s absolutely fine.
