We've teamed up with the talented guys @ Jetstack who will be running the session and Oddschecker who will be keeping you supplied with Coffee & Bacon rolls through out the morning.

In this event, we demonstrate the deployment of a microservices application to Google Container Engine (GKE). We will explain the core concepts of Kubernetes and give instructor-led labs that you can follow along with. By the end of the day you will have:

• Understood key Kubernetes resources (e.g. Pods / Replica Sets / Deployments / Services / Labels / Ingress)

• Understood how applications map to Pods and how they can be exposed using Services

• Interacted with a running Kubernetes cluster

• Deployed varied microservices and databases to a GKE cluster

• Used Helm to deploy applications to the cluster

At the end of the morning you will also see Continuous Integration and Deployment (CI/CD) on Kubernetes, using Helm to deploy an application into multiple environments before being rolled out to production.

NOTE: These pre-requisites only apply if you intend to follow along with the labs.
