DevOps and Drinks : Discussing Spinnaker with Giphy and Armory

Hi Everyone,

After a great event at CLEAR, we're very excited to announce our next Meetup is in 2 weeks! After our awesome Kubernetes talk, we decided to discuss Spinnaker.

Our awesome friends at Giphy will be hosting as well as presenting again at their incredible office space! Giphy and Armory have collaborated to put together a great presentation about the ultra-modern tech stack that the company is using. Giphy Site Reliability Engineer, Bryant Rockoff, will be the featured speaker for the night and outlines what he'll be discussing below.

"Over the past year, GIPHY has transitioned to using Spinnaker, along with Jenkins, for its Continuous Integration and Deployment purposes. From building and deploying Docker containers to templating Helm charts for Kubernetes, to secret management via Vault, and Canary analysis on the fly, Spinnaker has helped us transition to a fully automated process of creating environments and ensuring fluid deployments to our staging and production environments. This talk will focus on how GIPHY has deployed and is using, Spinnaker to help ensure we help to keep the internet weird at a fast pace, as well as an overview of the platform and its pitfalls " (Bryant Rockoff).

Armory and Giphy are both sponsoring the food and drinks for the evening, and the Averity DevOps team will be there to discuss the state of the DevOps / SRE market, new and emerging tech, among other topics for those of you who are interested. Averity will also be doing a retro 80's video game giveaway at the end so be sure not to leave early!
