19:00 - Registration, dinner & drinks
19:45 - Let’s Go Knative! by Niclas Mietz (@solidnerd)
Are you tired of the complexity of your building applications with Kubernetes? You need to add your own resources like deployment, service, ingress, config maps, secrets and many more to run your applications in Kubernetes.
Knative attempts to solve theses complexities by managing its servicing and lifecycle while providing ‘serverless’ style event-driven functions.
In this talk I’ll give you a first hands-on look to Knative with the components Serving, Eventing and it’s underlying components.
20:15 - Short Break
20:30 - Linux distributions in the containerized world: Why and how you should build containers on top of packaged distributions by Aleksandra Fedorova (@bookwar_info)
In the talk I'd like to share the latest news from the packaged Linux
distributions world (mainly Fedora), which are relevant for
containerized workflows.
I will provide an introduction to Fedora Modularity feature, which
provides the parallel availability of different software stacks, and
Fedora Minimization initiative, which is focused on cleaning up the
dependency trees and reducing the system footprint.
We will discuss the downsides and benefits of using packages to build
containerized environments, and how one can use buildah and podman to build lightweight containers.
About Aleksandra:
I am a Principal Software Engineer at Red Hat and a member of Fedora
Engineering Steering Committee. I work mostly on Continuous
Integration and Continuous Development for Red Hat Enterprise Linux
and Fedora.
21:00 - More drinks and networking
22:00 - End of Event
