July Meetup: Are you VM-weary?

Details

We've been running Kubernetes on virtual machines for so long that we’ve stopped asking why. This month, we'll have Scott McAllister (Principal Dev Advocate, LoftLabs) join us to look back at how we ended up here: why VMs made sense in the early days of Kubernetes, what that architecture gave us, and what it's costing us now.

With bare metal tooling finally catching up, and the increased adoption of utilizing GPU-powered processes efficiently, it might be time to rethink the extra layers we’ve built around our clusters. Are you VM-weary? Maybe it’s time to find out.

Speaker: Scott McAllister, Principal Developer Advocate (LoftLabs)

Scott McAllister is a Principal Developer Advocate for LoftLabs. He has been building software in several industries for over a decade. Now, he's helping others learn about various software development, delivery, and infrastructure principles. When he's not coding, writing, or speaking, he enjoys long walks with his wife, skipping rocks with his kids, and is happy whenever Seattle Sounders FC, Manchester City, St. Louis Cardinals, Seattle Mariners, Chicago Bulls, Seattle Storm, Seattle Seahawks, Seattle Reign FC, Seattle Kraken, Barcelona, Fiorentina, Borussia Dortmund or Mainz 05 can manage a win.
