September Meetup: DevOps vs. AIOps: Who Owns the Future of Operations?
Details
This month we'll have George and Gavin joining us from Progress Chef to talk about "DevOps vs. AIOps: Who Owns the Future of Operations?".
DevOps gave us Infrastructure as Code and Desired State Configuration—a promise that systems could be declared, enforced, and audited. But now we’re entering an agentic world where AI-powered operators don’t just enforce state; they decide when and how to act. That raises the question: do we still need our carefully written code, or do we trust an AI to “fix” drift on its own?
This talk explores the growing tension between DevOps and AIOps. On one side, engineers want reproducibility, audit trails, and compliance guarantees. On the other, agentic workflows promise faster recovery, fewer tickets, and reduced toil—but at the cost of black-box decisions. What happens when an AI remediates drift but leaves no human-readable record? Or when your DSC definitions and the agent’s actions diverge?DevOps vs. AIOps: Who Owns the Future of Operations?
