If you use a modern configuration management tool for any length of time and for any even moderately complex set of systems, you'll wind up developing and maintaining a sizable collection of code. In this talk, we'll review some best practices from more traditional software development and see how they apply to configuration management systems, with examples in Ansible.
About me: Adam Howard is the lead cluster admin at the Joint Institute for Computational Sciences, supporting academic and research computing on multiple small to moderate-scale compute clusters. He has strong opinions about batch schedulers and programming language design, and is more than happy to talk your ear off about his cats.
