DevOps Manchester 36: Low Toil Tenant Management

Announcing our next event on Thursday 3 October! We're meeting at Northcoders for this edition, with food and drinks kindly provided by DevEx Connect.

For our talk this month, Tim Bannister from Scale Factory joins us to talk about Low Toil Tenant Management. Tim's talk will cover:

• Repeatable, resilient, and isolated deploys to tenants
• Rollout strategies and the factors that influence them
• Tenant tiering for SaaS contexts

As always we'll have plenty of time for questions and discussion, so you'll have ample chance to contribute your own thoughts and experiences.

Talk Synopsis
SaaS businesses, and other concerns that run multi-tenant, need to find a balance that's right for their context. The smallest startups begin by deploying manually, and might make tenant management be mostly manual. Low margin or high volume companies need robust automation and self service, whereas for some businesses nearly all the revenue comes from a top tier of enterprise customers with specific demands. And nobody wants a deploy that breaks every tenant at once.
This talk will be about the challenges that these firms have in common. It will cover some specific cloud tools, but most of this will be OS and provider-agnostic.
