DevOps Melbourne September 2020 (Online)

Details

Hello All,

In order to help with social distancing and still staying connected with our DevOps Community, we have decided to host our meetups online for the time being.

If you've got an idea for an interesting talk about DevOps, infrastructure, security, observability, cloud, platforms or you want to share your or team's DevOps journey with others or anything in between, let us know here or feel free to connect with us on LinkedIn!

Talks can run anywhere between 15 and 35 mins.

Feel free to reach out to us here or on LinkedIn with your Talk title, Abstract.

We also have a place for Community Marketplaces which is a platform for people who have jobs and are looking for candidates and for people who are looking jobs.

Note: We will be using zoom for this event. If you would be joining us, it would be useful to download it before. We will share the meeting link on the day of the event.

CONFIRMED TALKS

Speaker: Michael Pogrebisky

Title: An Integrated Approach to Embedding Security into DevOps

Abstract:
Software development teams are often overloaded with security-related data, hindering delivery speeds and security integrity. In this session, learn the importance of application security testing solutions that leverage automation to produce high-quality findings and results, and how they help organizations achieve a true DevSecOps model by automating vulnerability detection and triage.

Speaker: Marc Hildenbrand

Title: Tekton: Does the world really need another CI/CD pipeline?

Abstract:
The importance of Continuous Integration and Deployment tooling to DevOps is clear. In fact, most companies are happily using proprietary build tools (such as Azure DevOps or AWS Code Pipelines) whilst others have found their way with OpenSource pipelines like Jenkins. Seems like a solved problem, right? So why are Google, Red Hat, and others working on another CI/CD tool called Tekton? With the help of a cheesy commercial from the 1980's we look at the hole in the CI/CD world that Tekton is trying to fill, how it goes about filling it, and why it just might be the future of CI/CD for Kubernetes environments.
