It's time to meetup again, this time in collaboration with AWS User Group Stuttgart we are co-organizing a meetup with two interesting talks about Terraform vs. Pulumi & Paying AWS to Talk to Itself-Network packets have a price @ Zoi office - Stuttgart!

1st Talk: Terraform vs. Pulumi: 100% Code, 0% Slides

Terraform is widely considered the de facto industry standard for cloud-agnostic Infrastructure as Code (IaC). However, Pulumi is rapidly gaining ground, particularly among platform engineers and developers with a strong software engineering background. But beyond the marketing buzz, which tool actually delivers in the trenches?
While countless articles compare the two conceptually, the real differences emerge when you actually start coding. In this purely slideless session, we move past the theory and dive straight into the IDE.

Drawing from several years of hands-on experience with both ecosystems, I will demonstrate the practical trade-offs in real-time.

We will explore:

  • HCL vs. General Purpose Languages: How do they handle abstraction and complexity?

  • Developer Experience: Managing environments, secrets and test frameworks in practice.

  • No slides, no fluff, just code and a deep dive into the workflows that matter to engineers.

About the speaker: Artun Subasi Principal Advisor, Digital Sovereignty at Gofore

2nd Talk: Paying AWS to Talk to Itself - Networking at scale is still hard, and every packet has a price
Our EKS cluster serves over 45,000 requests per second. For months, all good. Then the bill started climbing, with no deploys and no alerts. At this scale, how your services talk to each other really matters, and AWS charges for every word. Here's how we tracked it down, plus a few other networking surprises along the way.
About the speaker: Tobias Schmidt is a freelance software engineer and educator with experience in startups and large enterprises (8+ years).

I have practical expertise in AWS, having migrated production workloads and developed large-scale applications.

I share a lot of insights online & in person to help others with AWS and avoid common pitfalls (that I've painfully experienced in the past).

As the author of "AWS Fundamentals" and "The CloudWatch Book", I provide guidance for both new and experienced cloud professionals.

AGENDA:
18:00 Welcome and drinks 🍻
18:15 Presentations and Q&A 🤔
19:45 Food & networking 🍕🤝
