DevOps BP 2024 Jan - Flying over the clouds edition

Details

Have you ever wondered what is the best place to observe the beauty of the clouds? It is definitely from a commercial aeroplane flying over them! 🙂

Jokes aside, please join us for the very first DevOps BP of the year 2024 at Lufthansa Systems Hungária. We have a great line of presenters, who will all share interesting insights of their everyday work. Moreover you will also have a chance to sneak peak into the Lufthansa Systems Hungária to see the environment they very much enjoy working in:)

We have been preparing this event for a long time, and hope you will a good fun with us!

Our DevOps Journey: From Assessments to Platform Engineering
This presentation is a retrospective of a 5-year journey, going through our evolution in the world of DevOps within the aviation domain. First we discuss how we created our strategy starting from the 4 Key Metrics as a foundation, rooted in DORA research, followed by our QA & DevOps maturity assessments as first trials to measure our systems and processes. Then we’ll explore our approach to DevOps with Platform Thinking and Platform Engineering, geared towards improving DORA metrics, enhancing developer experience and reducing engineers' cognitive load.

Next, we'll dive into a practical case study of one of our internal products, an airline time-schedule management application (NetLine/Sched) utilizing our development platform. We'll review Sched's DevOps journey, from the inception to our future vision of DevOps excellence. We’ll show how our Platform Engineering team collaborates with Sched developers to meet platform engineering requirements and in return how the platform empowers the developers across the whole DevOps lifecycle (planning, issue tracking, PR environments, development clusters, Kubernetes in production) in achieving continuous delivery and deployments.

Buzzwords: culture, Azure, AKS, Github Actions, K8s in Production, ArgoCD, IaC, Kyverno
