Happy New DevOps from DevOps North East @ BJSS

Our first meetup of 2024 will take place at the fantastic new offices of BJSS and will have two talks to welcome you into a DevOps New Year.

Talk 1

Title: A 2024 DevOps Toolbox

Speaker: Martin Samuels

Talk Synopsis: "Not every problem is a nail: Your DevOps toolbox contains more than just a hammer" will share some of Martin's real world experiences of choosing the right tool, at the right time, for the job. He might also try to convince you all to take on a new year's resolution!

Speaker Bio: Martin is an independent DevOps consultant with 17 years of experience and an extensive business continuity, disaster recovery and data resiliency background. He specialises in AWS infrastructure, platform engineering, and DevOps practices. Notable clients/assignments include DWP, News UK, Northern Gas Networks, The Hotel Collection and Melius Cyber.

Talk 2

Title: Terraform: Seamless Deployment Across Environments

Speaker: Ben Jackson

Talk Synopsis: Terraform is a popular "infrastructure-as-code" tool and Ben will talk about the various approaches you can use for organising your Terraform code for better control and flexibility.

Speaker Bio: Ben is a Platform Engineer at BJSS delivering highly available, scalable enterprise solutions using AWS, Terraform, and CI/CD. Ben uses Terraform a lot to implement Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and manage the provisioning and configuration of AWS resources.
