About Lana Gluck and her Talk:

The purpose of the presentation is to examine spending for public cloud resources, and the ways infrastructure purchasing processes have changed from the on-premises model. We will discuss the common mistakes that lead to unnecessary public cloud spend. We will consider the reasons behind the waste, and more importantly, what can be done to fix this. We will also take a look at some examples of the actions taken by Verzion to manage their public cloud cost.

Lana is a Sr. Manager at Verizon, where she runs public cloud architecture and Cost Governance team. Her background is in software development and architecture.

About Tyler Lund and his Talk:

With Chaos Engineering, the goal is to purposefully break things within software systems to verify and test the resiliency of a large system. In a distributed system at Amazon scale like Audible, a single point of failure can affect millions of users. Come learn more about how we test disruptions and failures like network latency, host failures, massive requests, and others to ensure the customer experience never suffers. Learn how we break things on purpose to make things better for our users.

Tyler manages Audible’s Consumption Services and API team. The team builds the services that power listening across Audible. Whenever you download or stream a book through Audible’s app, Alexa, or the website, these services power it. A member of Audible for 6 years, Tyler has worked across Audible’s website and services, enhancing the ordering and listening experiences. An avid homebrewer, marathoner, and dad of twins, Tyler enjoys bringing new technologies and methodologies to improve Audible.
