Information

This month's meetup is at Blendle's headquarters. They invited us in their office at Catharijnesingel 52 to attend the presentations of both Wijnand van Deutekom (https://twitter.com/Wijnand_vd) and Frank Scholten (https://twitter.com/frank_scholten).

Travel instructions

Blendle is easy reachable by public transportation. For those of you who are driving up by car: there is a parking garage across the street. Blendle provides parking cards to use with the garage.

However, we recommend you travel by public transportation if possible.

Deis on top of kubernetes - Wijnand van Deutekom (https://twitter.com/Wijnand_vd)

Hosting your infrastructure on Kubernetes is great, away with pets, just cattle! Even so, configuring your applications can still be daunting and take up a lot of time. As a devopser it's fun to dive into the architecture of it all, but as a developer you really just want to deploy your application and be done with it.>This is why we started playing with Deis Workflow, a Heroku like PaaS on top of Kubernetes. In this talk I will talk about the pro's and cons of using Deis on top of kubernetes.

Minimesos, the experimentation and testing tool for Apache Mesos - Frank Scholten (https://twitter.com/frank_scholten)

The Apache Mesos project allows a developer to orchestrate and utilize
a cluster of machines as if it were a single pool of resources.
Engineers from multiple disciplines are writing “frameworks” to take
advantage of the redundancy and scalability that Mesos provides.
During the development of the ELK stack on Mesos (Elasticsearch,
Logstash and Kibana) we found that the Mesos and Docker community is
sorely missing tools to enable integration tests and projects to
reduce boilerplate code. We decided to create our own tool for
experimenting with Mesos and testing frameworks: minimesos, available
at https://www.minimesos.org (https://www.minimesos.org/)

Minimesos is an experimentation and testing tool which can be used as
a standalone cli application or from within a JUnit test. Start a
containerized Mesos cluster, start the scheduler of your framework and
perform assertions. At the end of the test the cluster is destroyed.
In this talk I will introduce minimesos, it's features, design and
implementation and what is on the horizon.
