Introduction to Lego Mindstorm

Details

Are your kids getting bored with their toys after playing with them for just a few times...? Do you want to introduce them to a toy they will never outgrow...? Do you want them to learn and apply Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) concepts and have fun at the same time...?

Here’s your answer… get them introduced to the Lego Mindstorms EV3 kit and have them start building endless varieties of robots and learn programming at the same time.

This is a beginner’s course in robotics using the Lego Mindstorms EV3 kit. It is meant for kids 9 years and older interested in building and programming robots. In this workshop, kids will work in small groups with an EV3 kit. They will be introduced to the various components in the kit including the EV3 controller (The Brick), motors, sensors, connectors, Lego building blocks and the EV3 software. Kidss will build a Roverbot and program it to move in various patterns. They will attach a sensor to the robot and learn to program the robot to change course based on activation of the sensor. They will learn some basic programming using the easy to use icon based EV3 software. Knowledge or experience in programming is NOT a pre-requisite.
In order to get the most benefit from this class, you are advised to bring a laptop (PC or Mac) with the free Lego Mindstorms EV3 software downloaded and installed. The link to download the software and system requirements are given below.
