Scalability Meetup

Details

This is our first ever DevQOps meetup. Join us and enjoy three inspiring talks (in English) - all around scalability, but from very different perspectives.
We will serve something to eat and refreshments, and there will be some time for mingle between the talks.

TALKS
1. Álvaro Revuelta, System Developer: Scaling Made Simple: How Kubernetes Handles Growing Apps
When your app gets popular, you need it to handle more users without slowing down. Kubernetes can help! In this session, we’ll cover the basics of scaling: what it is, why it’s important, and how Kubernetes adds or removes app instances automatically to match demand. You’ll leave with a clear understanding of how Kubernetes scaling works — even if you’re just starting out.
Álvaro is a Systems Developer at SciLifeLab, where he develops Python-based applications in containerized Kubernetes environments and manages deployments using CI/CD pipelines with tools like GitHub Actions and ArgoCD.
In his spare time, he enjoys bouldering and volunteering at a cat shelter. Let’s dive into Kubernetes containers and cloud-native practices together!
2. Maksim Tuchkov, QA Engineer: Effective Load/performance Testing: When Every Detail Matters
It’s very easy to conduct load testing and end up with very unclear results! Where to test, how to test, when to test, and most importantly, how to analyze the results? This is what we will try to figure out in this talk.
Maksim is a QA Engineer with experience working on a wide range of systems, from startups with CRM platforms to large-scale complex compliance systems for international stock exchanges. His focus is on test automation and performance testing.
3. Mariana Bocoi, Software Engineer and SRE: Handling Dependency Hell
There are increasingly more dependencies on 3rd party packages/libraries nowadays, especially when codebases grow. How can one keep up with all the different versions? Join Mariana for an overview of solutions for removing some toil from your work.
Mariana is a senior software engineer at Regent who over time has shifted focus more and more towards infrastructure and SRE. Having long experience within development, she knows exactly how to support development teams in the best way and how to set up scalable and reliable environments.
