Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) is an annual event that aims to shed light on accessibility and how we can collectively strive towards it. The focus is creating an accessible digital world and to do so, we must understand the types of disabilities people are faced with and their coping strategies. As of 2020, there are one billion people with disabilities across the globe: with 61 million in the United States alone. These numbers can go even higher based on situational and temporary disabilities people may sustain. By adopting accessibility guidelines, we not only are able to reach a bigger market, but also create a more inclusive world.

On May 19, 2022, Softrams will celebrate GAAD by hosting two webinars, “Beyond the ALT Tags” hosted by Robert Hunziker, Sr. UX Designer who brings over 20 years of experience working for companies like Microsoft, Google, Liberty Mutual, amongst others where he acted as a user advocate to craft an inclusive design
