# Talk 1: Tim van Baarsen & Marcos Maia | Real Time Investments Alerts using Apache Kafka & Spring Kafka at ING Bank

Nowadays our customers are expecting real time interactions with investments products and services we deliver at ING Bank especially because financial market fluctuations can have a direct impact on the investments performance of our customers. In this talk, we present how we deal with the massive stream of price updates on stocks and how we leverage many features of Apache Kafka and Spring Kafka to improve and simplify our solutions. From simple producer / consumer up to advanced usage of streams we strongly rely on Kafka to solve our functional and non-functional requirements delivering high quality, real time stream processing software that is reliable, precise and extremely valuable to our customers.

Tim van Baarsen is a creative software developer at ING Investments and has been in the software development business for over 12 years. He is a strong proponent of open source technology, a big fan of Spring Framework since the early versions and his interests lie in building scalable distributed systems. Tim enjoys speaking about his passion at both internal ING events as well at meetups within the Netherlands.

Marcos Maia is a passionate software developer working at ING Investments and has been in the IT industry for over 20 years. Passionate about technology, distributed systems, engineering culture and a lifelong learner, worked with multiple complex distributed systems and teams. Has delivered talks about his passions in companies, meetups and international conferences focused on leadership teams, software developers and customers

# Talk 2: Wessel Loth | Webcomponents: Developing Modern Frontends Without Frameworks

Custom Elements? Shadow DOM? HTML Templates? LitElement? Surely, you've heard these terms mentioned all over the place, but what are they really? In this talk you'll hear how you can develop modern frontend applications - without any frameworks. Using a tiny utility class called LitElement, I'll show you how we build future-proof frontends at ING Investments, based on just browser standards.

Wessel Loth is a passionate developer and trainer at Arcady, where he works on modern applications powered by .NET, Angular & Microsoft Azure. He loves working with the latest frontend technologies, and sharing his knowledge on the latest and greatest. Next to this, Wessel is a Lead Platform Engineer Front-end at ING Investments.

# Talk 3: Mikhail Kuznetcov | GraphQL at ING Investments
In this talk you'll hear what GraphQL is, what the benefits are, and how ING Investments implemented a pilot with GraphQL, both on the front-end and back-end.

Mikhail Kuznetcov is a software developer at ING Investments. He enjoys working with variety of front end technologies. Besides that he is an open source contributor and also teaches courses and workshops on modern JS. Mikhail also gives talks at meetups and conferences on software development topics.
