Agenda

12:00 PM: Don Ward: EdgeAI - AI in the Palm of Your Hand

AI and ML is everywhere in our digital lives. Machine Learning models running in data centers around the globe analyze and make decisions for us based on the data they receive. Join this talk as we cover the use cases and opportunities for EdgeAI spanning from smartphones to the smallest of microcontrollers. As an extra bonus, hands on demos will be provided of projects that have been done with EdgeAI using smartphones and microcontrollers.

1:00 PM: Victoria Gonda: Internationalization-ing

Many apps cater to users across the world. When most people think about making their app accessible in other countries, they think about providing language translations. However, there’s much more to internationalization (i18n) than localizing your strings. When providing for a global audience, you also have to consider layouts, iconography, and cultural interpretation. You’ll leave this talk with the tools you need to make your app reach people around the world.

1:30 PM: Jennifer Wadella: There are No Snow Days When You Work Remote

Have you been struggling in your transition to work remote? Is your company or the place you’re interviewing with struggling to do what it takes to support remote workers? Consider this your guide to conquering personal remote work-life and how to survive your employer shifting to creating a remote environment by implementing rules, patterns, and boundaries to help you be successful.

2:30 PM: Martin Omander: Growing Your Cloud Application

It's easy to write a cloud-based "Hello world" application. For example, you can quickly throw together a simple REST API or mobile app backend that looks up a value in a database and returns it to the client.
But how do you architect your cloud application so that you can deal with complex requirements, more users, and more developers? In this talk Martin will review what he has seen work and not work in the field. Come learn from the mistakes of others and make sure your cloud application is set up for future success!

3:30 PM: Kyle Paul: Serverless Applications with Firebase

Have you ever started building an application and quickly realized that a lot of back-end work is needed? Firebase is a platform that helps you quickly develop real-time apps, grow your user base, and earn more money. Firebase is many things and this talk will explore the tools available that it provides.
