Agenda

10:00 AM: Nikiya Simpson: Design the Career You Want with Your Tech Skills

As you grow in your career, you may want to pivot to different roles, industries, or paths. However, you may not want to let go of the skills and toolkit you have built over the years. In this talk, we’ll discuss packaging your skillset so that you can apply it in your next role. You don’t have to start over completely. Design the career you want by building on what you already have! Audience: Mid-Level Career, Established Career (WTM).

10:45 AM: Sarah Hill: Train Your Brain with Virtual and Augmented Reality

Learn about your different brain patterns and your ability to control them to improve your focus and calm.

11:15 AM: Samhita Karnati: Lost in Translation: Bridging the Hiring Gap with Data Science

Handshake seeks to level the early talent playing field by making opportunities available to students regardless of their major or school. As Handshake helps employers shift from degree-based hiring to a competency-based approach, they need to help students and employers speak the same language about skills, such as Persuasion or Google Analytics. In this talk, we’ll explore the disconnect between how students and employers speak about skills, how we can use readily available student data to bridge the gap, and how we’re making it easy for employers to source talent based on competency.
