Get Out The Vote for Pat Jehlen

DFA-List candidate Pat Jehlen is running in a special election for the Massachusetts State Senate. Pat has been a key progressive leader in the Massachusetts House for the past 15 years, and was one of the few elected Democrats in MA to endorse Howard Dean in 2003.

Since this is the only election to a state office coming up in our state this year, it's the one political hot spot all the legislators and political leaders are looking at to see which way the electoral winds are blowing. And because Pat Jehlen is so clearly identified with the new progressive movement and with DFA, whether she wins or loses will have a major impact on all progressive candidates, issues, and the power of DFA and similar groups in this state in the year to come.

Fortunately, although this is likely to be a close and competitive election, Pat Jehlen is wildly popular in Somerville, the largest chunk of the district, and is considered the favorite. We have a very good shot of winning this one if we work hard (the other campaigns will!)

Pat Jehlen needs our help! The election is on Tuesday, August 30th. We're planning a road trip to the district (near Boston) for the weekend before election, August 27th and 28th. We may also plan a phone bank for people who can't make the trip, if we find someone to host it.

This is a critically important election, and could swing on just a few hundred, or even less than a hundred, votes!
