2. Michael Moore will appear on Oprah tomorrow, Tuesday, June 5, and will present, for the first time on television, scenes from his new film, "Sicko." Oprah will interview Michael about the movie and the attention it's receiving before its release (opening day everywhere is June 29). The theme of Oprah's show is the one film you must see this summer -- "Sicko" -- and the one book you must read (Cormac McCarthy's "The Road"). Oprah loved Michael's film and wants to make health care for all one of her main missions this year.***So set your recorders for Oprah tomorrow, Tuesday! FROM NADYA ROSS!

3. Monday, June 11, 7:00-9:00 pm, Mesa Democratic Club Meeting. Speaker: Andrew Donohue, Voice of San Diego, online enewspaper. 4. I hope you'll be able to enjoy this brilliant comic, "Marc Maron Live" for our times --Martha Sullivan

I called the Comedy Store to confirm that there ARE 8p and 10p shows on Saturday, June 16th as well as Friday, June 15th (the website is a little confusing), and also found out that it's cheaper to buy tix at their box office rather than on-line (e.g., the ticket processing fees).

Check it out at: http://www.thecomedystore.com/2000/lajolla.htm
You can find out more about Marc at: www.marcmaron.com (including archives of his Air America "Morning Sedition" show)

* If you saw him at the Saturday Night Beach Party Blowout at last summer's DemocracyFest (at SDSU), you KNOW what a treat it is to see Marc Maron live -- and he's coming back to San Diego in 2 weeks for 4 full shows! Hope you'll try to make it to one of them, as Charlie and I plan to (Saturday 8p, most likely) -- we need to give him a warm, San Diego progressive welcome once more AND we get to enjoy one of the funniest, most perceptive and RIGHT ON comics currently working.

5. "CARE ONE" By Kathy will be doing a presentation and asking sign a resolution in support of SB 840. Universal Health Care. [address removed]

6. Saturday, June 23rd, 8:00 am ? noon. Labor 101 ? A Basic Labor Course for Potential Candidates. This 4 hour, FREE class is a ?must attend? for candidates who plan to seek the endorsement of the San Diego-Imperial Counties Labor Council. It will cover all of the basic issues that are important to organized labor, including card-check and neutrality, project labor agreements, prevailing wage, retirement security, healthcare, livable wage, etc. This same class will be offered 2-3 times before our endorsement process officially begins. RSVP: Anthony Saavedra at [address removed]
