Carol- I received this advice from Gail Meckler and she asked that I send it to you for distribution as a follow up to the email you sent out Saturday regarding the meetings. I think it is a good idea to be aware of making sure that the Hillcrest folks get first dibs on all seats. Thank you. Betsy Marro

When I spoke on Wednesday with the Hillcrest Town Council woman, Nancy, I asked her if the general community was invited to come to the meeting. She said everyone was welcome to come but she asked that the members of the Hillcrest community be allowed to sit up front and ask their questions before anyone else. That seemed reasonable to mesince this was not announced as a Susan Davis Town Hall meeting. It is their monthly
town council and we don't want to take it over.......but I do think getting there early and bringing signs would be ok.
See you there.

Hello! I do think it's important that we take advantage of the few opportunities we have to converse with our Congressman....especially on as issue as important as Healthcare!
I have actually attended two recent (and rarely offered) events where Bilbray was the guest speaker and I was happy to hear him entertain comments from all perspectives on this issue. (he probably won't take our comments to heart but at least he listened respectfully!)
The important benefit of speaking "truth to power" is not so much that Bilbray pays attention....it's an excellent opportunity for us to present our perspective to others in the audience who may not otherwise hear our point of view. I've learned alot from other audience members at both of the events I attended and I encourage you to try to "catch up" with Bilbray this week if you can. You CAN make a difference even if it's just by nodding your head in agreement to someone else's comment!
Unfortunately the only opportunity we have in our area is at an SB/DM Optimist breakfast on Wednesday morning at 7am!! The other events are in Rancho Bernardo and Clairemont. (see attachment for details on all three events) I just called to "reserve a spot in back" and was told that the room is filling up quickly......but the chairman did accept my "reservation". I and other Democrats would love for you to join us!
Washington D.C.--North County Congressman Brian Bilbray will be speaking at the community coffees listed below. Constituents from the 50th Congressional District are encouraged to join Congressman Bilbray for a discussion on current happenings in Washington, D.C. and issues affecting the residents of California's 50th Congressional District.

Greetings OFA members,
Congress is on recess and the health care debate is heating up!
President Obama is committed to enacting comprehensive health reform this year that lowers costs, guarantees choice of doctors and plans, and assures quality affordable health care for all Americans. Locally, School Board President Sheila Jackson and School Board Vice President Richard Barrera recently attended an OFA meeting to show their support for real health care reform and a public option.
Insurance companies are pushing back hard and a massive publicity campaign is in full swing. We need to make our voices heard. Please add your voice to the health care debate. Here are a few simple things that you can do.
