Conflict... whatever you just felt reading that... that's what we'll be talking about. That word alone can enact the fight, flight, or freeze effect, which is why it was one of the most talked about segment from How to get experience as a Scrum Master without being a Scrum Master. As an experienced Scrum Master, someone who coaches other Scrum Masters, and a recipient of a Master's Degree in Conflict Management, I'm here to calm your nerves while also build up your stamina. Conflict is just another word for Blocker. In this session, we'll focus exclusively on this hot topic! We'll assess our own reactions to conflict using the Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument (TKI) conflict styles; explore the various types of conflicts/blockers I have dealt with as a Scrum Master (in terms of people, processes, and technology); discuss a variety of questions we can use to assess conflict/blockers in our own lives, and provide suggestions to practice making this a not so scary word going forward!
