March DFWWP: 10 Essential WordPress Plugins and How to Configure Them (& WordPress 103 Seminar)

Dear WordPress Rockstar,

We're getting into the swing of 2012. Our group is growing, we're referring business to each other, and we're now co-marketing with two other awesome local Meetups, be sure to check them out: DFW Social Media Marketing, and the DFW Twitter Meetup.

MARCH MEETUP, Next Saturday 3/24/2012
10 Essential WordPress Plugins and How to Configure Them.

WordPress has over 15,000 “plugins”. These mini-programs help you post to social media sites, embed multimedia, fight comment spam, track your site visitors, optimize your site, and much more. Figuring out which ones you need and how to set them up can gobble up a week of your time and you still might not get it right! In this presentation I'll showcase "the best of the best" and show you how to configure them. An additional bonus: you’ll learn how to curate plugins and determine if a plugin is valuable or just worthless spamvertising drivel.

On Saturday morning, before the Meetup from 9:30am-1pm, I'm offering “WordPress 103: Advanced Topics”. If you are familiar with WordPress and are ready to get your hands dirty then this seminar is for you. Maybe you've built a WordPress web site for your client, but not everything works. Images aren't lining up, the footer has some text that you can't seem to edit, the RSS feed isn't working, and the client wants some widgets "here" and some Flash "there". If your sites need advanced customization and fixes, then this class is for you. You'll learn how to debug WordPress problems, how to fix theme issues, and resolve plugin conflicts. Class size is limited, so RSVP today.

Class fee includes snacks and pizza lunch (1pm-2pm), and Meetup admission (2pm-4pm).

At our April 28 DFWWP Meetup, Giovanni Gallucci will talk about video, SEO, and other ninja secrets. On May 19, we'll have a technical talk on WordPress. And June 23-24 we're hosting a two-day Emerging Tech Conference with over 50 talks on blogging, marketing, and search engine optimization. Sign up for updates at

Jeremy Vest, one of our February speakers, is having a special event April 11. He is  showing off his new video learning management system. More details:

Keep these dates open, you don't want to miss these events.

See you on Saturday!
