Dear Dharma Drink Friends,

Many of us have been witnessing on social media the walk for peace by the monks from Texas. While their demeanor is low-keyed but ferociously focused, their impact on our psyche has been nothing but wondrous.

Let us share spend a little time to share our thoughts with other like minded. We are here to exchange and not here to expound or argue back and forth. We also must agree to disagree.

Anyone who does not show respect to others will immediately be removed from the discussion and potentially be removed from the group.. If you need deeper learnings, please go visit a Buddhist teaching center.

Middle Length Discourse - 58 Abhayarajakumara Sutta
(Taken from Pressing Out Pure Honey book notes by Sharda Rogell)

Speech the Buddha would utter: beneficial and true, knowing the correct time (timely speech) out of compassion for beings:
1. Speech that is true, correct and beneficial, even though it is unwelcome and disagreeable.
2. Speech that is true, correct and beneficial, and is welcome and agreeable.

Speech the Buddha would not utter: unbeneficial, whether true or untrue
1. Speech that is untrue, incorrect, unbeneficial, and unwelcome and disagreeable.
2. Speech that is untrue, incorrect, and unbeneficial, but welcome and agreeable (such as malicious gossip).
3. Speech that is true and correct, but unbeneficial, and unwelcome and disagreeable.
4. Speech that is true and correct, but unbeneficial, and welcome and agreeable (even if it is truthful and welcomed, if it is not helpful, let it go).
