Consciousness and Perception

Details
Topic: Consciousness and Perception
Presenter: Floyd
Since our last meeting was about memory, perhaps a natural segue might be questioning the relatively unknown capabilities of our brains. After all, there are areas of our brain which science hasn’t explained yet.
There are people who claim to associate sounds with colors, people who see “auras” around other people, people who can “read” your mind, people who can communicate with “spirits”, people who see spirit guides, people who communicate and/or learn from alien entities, people who can move their consciousness to remote locations and retrieve information, people who believe that we have a soul which will ascend or move to another body or location after we die, and on and on.
People like me, who have never knowingly experienced anything paranormal and are rooted in the here and now/nuts & bolts/scientific/logical world often ignore these claimed fringe capabilities, though it is quite possible that there is a whole unknown world out there to be discovered.
Perhaps you have an interest in our unacknowledged mental abilities?

Meeting Format:
Each meeting has a single topic which is introduced by the person who came up with it. He/she introduces the topic by posting prior to the meeting (above) and presenting it for up to 15 min at the start of the meeting. Following this introduction, we take turns sharing points of view related to the topic. Everyone who wants to is encouraged to speak. The Group is self-monitoring. There is no leader nor moderator. The presenter for the day can act as a facilitator if he or she feels it is necessary.
The meeting starts at 2 pm and ends at about 4:15 pm. At about 3:45 we begin a closing round where we take turns making final comments, stating what we heard or what we learned during the meeting.
Note**- Diversity of perspective and opposing points of view are frequently expressed. The right of each person to express her/his point of view, freedom of thought and expression are valued greatly.
