Introductory Lecture on Buddhism for Newcomers + Guided Buddhist Meditation

Details

Curious about Buddhism & Meditation?

Join us for our introductory evenings for newcomers on Monday evenings @ 18h00 (+/- 30 minutes).
The introduction will be followed by a guided meditation (+/- 20 minutes).
Allow for around 1 - 1 .5 hrs for the evening.

If you are new, one of our friendly members will provide a brief overview of who we are and what we do, prior to the meditation.
Our program is suitable for beginners and there is plenty of time for individual questions.

These sessions are free of charge and open to anyone who wishes to gain insight into the teachings of Diamond Way Buddhism and try meditation. A donation is always welcome if it feels right for you.

Just come as you are, no need to dress in any specific way or bring any cushions or mats.

We are known as Diamond Way Buddhism in the West and belong to the Karma Kagyu school (a Tibetan lineage). We follow a particular set of meditation practices advised by our main teachers.

We are lay practitioners and use our methods to apply in our daily lives. We show how Buddha’s teachings and meditation can seamlessly fit into a modern lifestyle.
All our work is based on voluntary, joyful effort.

If you do decide to become a regular member, then there is a voluntary membership fee, which goes towards the upkeep of the centre.

Some initial questions you might have might be answered on our website: www.buddhism-southafrica.org

Please do give a heads up via WhatsApp if you do plan to come on the day.

More about Diamond Way Buddhism:
Diamond Way Buddhism is a worldwide network for lay people from all walks of life, who incorporate Buddhist practice in their daily lives.

Diamond Way Buddhism belongs to the thousand-year-old Karma Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. Lama Ole Nydahl, a Western Buddhist teacher born in Denmark, established Diamond Way Buddhism in the 1970’s, together with his wife Hannah Nydahl. Their main teacher the 16th Karmapa asked them to teach what they had learned and to start Buddhist centres in the West.

More than 40 years later, there are now more than 600 Diamond Way Buddhist centres around the world. The meditation methods that you can learn in these centres are all traditional Buddhist teachings, but presented in a modern setting and language, accessible to all.

The name “Diamond Way” is a translation of the Sanskrit word Vajrayana. Vajrayana is considered to be the most direct of the three levels of Buddha’s teachings.
