What we’re about

Join the 'Digigigers of Bournemouth (BCP) / Dorset Meetup' to connect with fellow 'Digigigers' - freelancers who work the digital gig economy - from occasional side hustlers to those who have made it as their main means of livelihood.

It's almost defacto that you'll be be principally a 'remote worker' - and this is I suppose MY main motivation for founding this group - remote working has many benefits but it can also be isolating - many's the evening after a hard day of hacking , zooming and digital marketing posts that I'm yearning for a slice of contact with real live human beans, to shoot the breeze over a coffee or a pint - to decompress and hopefully connect.

So join us and be part of the future of work - whether you're a established web designer, copywriter, content creator, social media marketer, app developer or, like me, you are on still on your learning journey - reskilling, building your portfolio, networking and developing your credibility as you seek to cross over the digital divide to a livelihood fuelled by the digiverse.

In fact the group isn't intended to be limited to established digital economy freelancers, or even aspirational digigigers, but anyone with aspirations or achievements of making digital hay by whatever legitimate mean ls - an Etsy Shop, a Ebay Drop Shipper, Youtuber, a TickTock Influencer. You see, I believe diversity will be the strength of this group - if it's just a bunch of linux nerds speaking in hex - that's not my idea of a wind down! (Not that I've got anything against linux or nerds - I count myself as at least demi-nerd!)

But let's build a supportive community where we can learn, grow, and thrive together in the ever-evolving digital landscape.

Our Meetups will have the potential for networking - without being a professional networking group, know-how sharing without some bod lecturing @ us with a powerpoint presentation - BUT MAINLY its about the pure joy of a face-to-face social evening when we can take a break from our digital (sometime isolated) existence in screenworld.

An occasional meet up to wind down in town, to gas bag about 'shop' for sure, but also to shoot the breeze about anything & everything but shop! Go on give it a go - what have you got to lose?

I was inspired recently by a conversation I over heard on the radio which the interviewer asked guy who was disappointed if he hadn’t succeeded in whatever he was attempting. He response was “No, I would only have been disappointed if I hadn’t tried.”

PS: Please don't attend if you're a sales person intent on pitching your wunder solution to a captive audience - that's not what we digigigers are about.
