Joined meetup: Digital Analytics & Data Science Amsterdam

Details

It is with great pleasure that we invite you to a joined meetup organized by

Digital Analytics (https://www.meetup.com/Digital-Analytics/) and Data Science Amsterdam (https://www.meetup.com/Data-Science-Amsterdam/) on Thursday, December 15th, 6PM - 9PM in Amsterdam

This meetup is co-organized by the Digital Analytics (https://www.meetup.com/Digital-Analytics/) and the Data Science Amsterdam (https://www.meetup.com/Data-Science-Amsterdam/) meetups, so you can expect a nice crossover of disciplines and like-minded fellows. In this edition, we are keen to explore both analytics/marketing aspects and the science behind data science within the online arena.

Why do we organize a Data Science Meetup?

This meetup is a co-organization between the Digital Analytics (DA) and the Data Science Amsterdam (DSA) meetups. It is an initiative of Eduardo Barbaro (https://nl.linkedin.com/in/edbarbaro) (DA), currently a data scientist at Mobiquity, Valentina Djoemai (https://nl.linkedin.com/in/valentinadjoemai) (DA), Data-Driven optimization Lead at Online Dialogue, and Jos Darmanata (https://nl.linkedin.com/in/josdarmanata) (DSA), Director and Data Science Consultant at DSLogix .

We all know that data science is leaving its footprint within the digital environment in many companies. However, there’s much discussion and debate about the impact it has in the business, as well as the implementation and usage of its outcomes. Therefore, we bring together specialists on all levels to discuss data science within the digital arena in its broadest sense. For this third edition we are proud to present the following line-up:

Programme:

Jacob van Duijn (https://nl.linkedin.com/in/jacob-van-duijn-0a3a7011), Head of Analytics at TomTom.

Intuitively, we know digital marketing has an impact everywhere - not just on the traffic to your own site. But how can we measure the impact of an online awareness campaign on sales of other e-tailers, or even bricks & mortar retailers? Jacob will share how TomTom cracked this issue, and the eye-opening numbers that his team found. He has worked in digital marketing since the late 1990s, specializing in marketing analytics since 2008. Before founding the analytics department at TomTom, he managed online marketing teams in a wide range of industry verticals, on brand, publisher and agency side. He studied Artificial Intelligence in Amsterdam.

Kris Marnette (https://nl.linkedin.com/in/kris-marnette-27b185b), Senior Geophysicist, previously at Transmark Renewables & Transmark Services (https://www.linkedin.com/company/1950797?trk=prof-exp-company-name).

Big data and machine learning already play a role in our present-day lives and have been labeled as a major next step for the future. In the physical sciences (e.g. Meteorology, Geophysics, medical imaging), spatial predictive models are built based on physical relations and very few measurements. How do model building based on physical relations and modeling consumer data compare? And what can we learn from physical models for our big data predictive modeling?

Arnoud Andeweg (https://nl.linkedin.com/in/arnoudandeweg) and Anna Witteman (https://nl.linkedin.com/in/annawitteman), Customer Insights Leader and Head of UX Lab at IceMobile

How can you measure the quality of the experience people are having with your service or your brand? Retailers want to give customers a good user experience because this leads to better business results like more revenue and higher loyalty. In this presentation, Arnoud & Anna will share their learnings on data-driven storytelling & product development. They will share how combining big data & small data has helped them to make data quickly actionable in an agile way. Illustrated by case studies from their Retail clients all over the world they will show how & when the combination of big & small data can bring the best results.
