EU Digital Identity Wallet and the Secure Element

Details

Please join us for the first session of 2024 where we will explore the requisite specifications, the obstacles to implementation, and the potential strategies for leveraging the SIM card within smartphones as the fundamental security component of the EUDIW.

The eIDAS 2 Directive mandates every EU member state to provide citizens, residents, and businesses with a Digital Identity Wallet (EUDIW). This wallet will facilitate both online and offline access to public and private services, enabling the seamless sharing of digital documents and verification of personal attributes across the EU.

The implementation of the EUDIW poses significant challenges, particularly concerning security and privacy. While the service is mobile-centric and as such must be made available in real-time via app stores, it must also ensure secure storage of the user credentials at the highest level.

Our Speaker is Andras Vilmos.

Mr. Andras Vilmos is Managing Director of SafePay Systems Ltd. and advisor of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, and ATOS. Over the years Mr. Vilmos has been involved in the design, implementation and validation of trusted systems and services like mobile payment, chip card management, identity and access control as well as in the implementation of IoT security solutions at diverse industry domains.
