Digital People in Peterborough (DPiP) - August 2021
Details
Announcement klaxon: 📢 In light of the football happening tomorrow night we’ve decided to postpone our event until next month. Do RSVP and join us on 4th August for a fab talk from Jessica on Code Literacy!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This month Jessica Rose from CodeSee talks about how we can use non-code concepts to read and make sense of codebases. This talk is for anyone that's ever looked at code in a new project and wasn't sure where to start.
What would programming feel like if we were less focused on just the writing of code? Together let’s look at concepts from the humanities that give us new skills in understanding code.
Welcome back, Jess!

This month's speaker:
Jessica Rose
Jessica Rose is a passionate advocate for better access to technical education and meaningful work in technology. She’s working with CodeSee as their head of developer relations. She’s Birmingham based and will talk your ear off about how great the city is. She’s always interested in hearing about your technical or non-tech passions!
For more information on the talks and speakers visit https://mydpip.com/july-2021/
Remember, now we're online you will need to ensure you've RSVPd ahead of the event, and the Meetup.com page closes at 6.30 PM (at which point the social room will open). Follow this link on the night to join in:
https://live.bigorangeheart.org/ (you'll need your Meetup.com login to get in).
Parking: Plonk yourself down in your favourite chair or on your sofa, make yourself drink or better yet visit Bewiched beforehand for a takeaway beverage, then settle in to watch the live stream. (Biscuits optional).
How to find us:
Access the event from 6:30 pm at https://live.bigorangeheart.org/.
With so many meetings and events now taking place online we’re very conscious of screen fatigue (please do take regular breaks!) so will be recording the event stream for you to enjoy at a time of your choosing. Of course, you’ll miss out on all the social chat so real-time is always best.
We hope that as members this makes our events more accessible. We still want to deliver our usual mix of talks from across the digital sector and are now actively looking for new speakers. So if you have an idea for a talk please head over to https://mydpip.com/speakers-talks/.
