Flying in from the US?
You'll fly into London and we go from there. Plenty of guests build a few days in London around the tour. We can help give recommendations.
What we photograph
The Farne Islands hold more than 20 bird species. Puffins are the headline act, and at close range they're extraordinary, but you'll also work with arctic terns, guillemots, razorbills, shags, kittiwakes and eider ducks, plus grey seals hauled out along the water's edge. Six trips means six shots at the light, which matters when the North Sea has opinions about the weather.
Evenings are for landscapes. We're staying near Bamburgh Castle, with Dunstanburgh a short drive away. Two of the finest coastal castles in the country, both tripod-worthy.
Accommodation: An entire six-bedroom house near Bamburgh, two rooms with en-suite. Self-catering, with pubs, restaurants and shops close by. Everyone gets their own room.

One note on weather: the boat captain has the final say on sailing. That's why we go for six days rather than two.
