Rocket Duck Startup Meetup #2
The Loft, Vauxhall Quay, Sutton Harbour, Plymouth, Devon PL4 0DN, Plymouth, GBJoin us for our second meetup in the Rocket Duck series, where we’ll be focusing on building connections and finding collaborators ahead of the final pitch meetup.
This meetup is all about networking, meeting potential teammates and mentors, and discovering the skills and support available in Plymouth’s startup community. We’ll also be running a Reciprocity Board, where participants can share something they need help with and something they can offer in return. It’s a great way to connect with others, swap expertise, and start chatting to potential team mates before the next meetup.
We’ll also have a special guest speaker (TBA) to share insights and inspiration from their own startup journey.
So sign up now for our second meetup! As part of us putting on these wonderful events for the Regional Tech Booster Programme, we kindly ask that you fill out this registration form before arriving (takes about 5-10 minutes): Click here to RSVP & Register
Or if you forget, you can fill out this form on arrival.
Please don't just RSVP to the meetup page, as this won't guarantee you a space.
About the Rocket Duck series:
Brought to you by the team at Digital Plymouth, we would like to welcome you to Rocket Duck, the new event series for Plymouth's future founders.
As a team who have cofounded agencies, product businesses and Digital Plymouth back in 2012 (when we didn't have grey hair), we know its not always that easy to start something, and sometimes people need a space and a place to get together, to meet future co-founders to get their startup off the ground.
We're here to help you find collaborators, learn from experts in a fireside chat format to inspire you to take the next step.
Who's This For?
If you're reading this, probably you. Rocket Duck is for...
- The Entrepreneur: You've got a great idea but need co-founders to help build it.
- The Ambitious: You want to be part of a start-up and are ready to dive into the journey.
- The Specialist: You're a developer, designer, marketer, or strategist with top-notch skills, just looking for the right idea to back.
- The Veteran: You've already built a business and want to share your hard-earned wisdom with those just starting out.
The Flight Plan
We've crafted a series of meetups to give you the fuel you need, culminating in a full-on launch weekend.
Part 1: The Rocket Duck Meetups
It all kicks off with three meetups (this is the second), being held at The Loft, Plymouth. This is your chance to meet other fledgling entrepreneurs and hear stories from those who've already been on the journey.
And yes, if you're feeling brave, you can even pitch your concept in a friendly, low-pressure, no-risk environment.
Part 2: The Finale (The Rocket Duck Launchpad)
This is the big one in March 2026. A full weekend packed with non-stop mentoring and hands-on workshops. We’ll get your idea battle-tested and your pitch-perfect, so you're ready for anything.
The goal is to land a coveted spot on the TechSW Growth Forge Accelerator.
This is your fast track. It’s the opportunity to stop dreaming and start building, turning your lightbulb moment into a real-world business.
This project is part of the Regional Tech Booster programme, funded by the UK Government and supported by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, in partnership with the UK Tech Cluster Group.10 attendees
Rocket Duck Startup Meetup #3 - Pitch Night!
The Loft, Vauxhall Quay, Sutton Harbour, Plymouth, Devon PL4 0DN, Plymouth, GBJoin us for our third and final Rocket Duck meetup before the Launchpad weekend in March.
This is the big one - the night where ideas take flight, teams form, and our future founders start getting launch-ready. Whether you’re coming with an idea to pitch, hoping to join a team, or just curious to see the creativity brewing in Plymouth, this is the meetup where everything comes together.
## What this meetup is all about:
- Pitching your ideas in a fun, friendly, no-pressure environment
- Meeting collaborators and finding complementary skills to build your team
- Being inspired by others’ ideas and jumping onto a team — you don’t need to come with your own idea
- Forming your Rocket Duck “flock” ahead of the Launchpad weekend
- Gathering momentum for the March event, where ideas turn into real prototypes, plans, and pitches
If you want to join the Launchpad weekend, this meetup is the moment to gather your crew and start building your team.
## What to Expect:
We’ll be adding the full evening schedule soon, but here’s the shape of the night:
We’ll kick off with some relaxed networking and getting-to-know-you time before heading into Lightning Pitches. Got an idea? You’ll have 60 seconds to pitch:
- the problem
- your solution
- why it’s exciting
- what skills you need on your team
Then we’ll vote on the killer ideas and help everyone form teams around them. And don’t worry - if your idea doesn’t yet have enough people, or if you’re missing a key skill, we’ll help you continue building your team ahead of the March Launchpad weekend.
So, sign up now for our third meetup!
