Unconference of Experiments + Fundraiser for Pancreatic Cancer

Details

Please join this Unconference of Experiments and Fundraiser for Pancreatic Cancer UK on Friday 6 Sept.

The goal of this event — besides to raise research funds for the cancer with the lowest survival rate — is to allow professionals to experiment and learn in a collaborative remote setting.

### What is an Unconference?

An Unconference in the strictest sense has no predefined schedule. Attendees just show up and pitch their ideas to collaboratively create a schedule. Our event will be a mix of that open space/lean coffee along with preplanned activities within a curated virtual space organized around themes and some activities.

This is not a webinar. It is a day of live, interactive experiences within 25-minute slots. We welcome session facilitators to use the space to test out any sort of engaging online workshop, group conversation, icebreaker, or other interactive topic.

*Why do we still have a Call for Speakers? This is a six-hour event. We recognize not everyone can take a whole day off. We want to create at a rough schedule around emergent themes, coaching sessions and maybe some big names and themes to entice you to participate.

As folks apply to facilitate sessions, we will update comments so keep checking back!

### Welo: Our Remote Conference Venue

Welo is a virtual space set up just like a physical space — you can only hear, see and talk with people when you’re in the same room with them. It integrates directly with Google Docs, Miro and Mural, plus screensharing capabilities.

Watch this 7-minute video to see the spaces in action. During the live event, we will host 10-minute Welo onboarding activities — icebreakers that get you talking with your fellow attendees and help you get to know the tool.

There will be designated spaces for 1-to-1 coaching, a support and memorial wall, a zen garden, a canteen, areas for certain activities and themes, as well as open spaces organized day-of by attendees.

### Support A Vital Charity

This is a free event but it is also a fundraiser for Pancreatic Cancer UK. Pancreatic cancer is called a silent killer, detected usually so late that it has the lowest survival rate of any cancer, just 12% in the first five years. Your donation can fund vital research, support patients, and bring us closer to a cure. Join the battle today. Donate now.

Jen, org of this event and our monthly Agile Lean Coffees, is joined by her teammates Katie, Val and Gen to form The Barbelles. They, along with many teams from Milo and the Bull, are training for Battle Cancer on 14 Sept in London. This fundraiser has each team doing 20,000 reps in 90 mins, all to raise money for cancer charities.

How can you support?
✓ **Donate now! (**All funds go directly to the charity & are eligible for Gift Aid. Your company likely will match your donation too!)
