Ctrl+Break is back for UK Tech Week, with a ‘lunch-and-learn’ format from Digital Lincoln designed specifically for the developer community in Lincoln.

The event features bite-sized learning in a mix of lightning talks and Q&A sessions where fellow practitioners share quick, actionable insights, cool projects or clever hacks.

Whether you're looking to discover new tools, sharpen your skills or just break up your day with some inspiration, Ctrl+Break promises an opportunity to pause and explore new ideas… and lunch is provided!

Here are this years guest speakers:

Talk 1 | Jade Hughes, Junior Software Engineer, Streets Heaver Healthcare Computing

Jade’s talk explores a self-tuning API built as part of her Master’s independent project, designed to adjust its own database indexing strategy based on real traffic. Jade will also share lessons on modelling realistic traffic, choosing meaningful metrics, and judging system performance under load in a way that leads to informed, data-driven decisions.

Talk 2 | Alfie Wheeler, Junior Developer, PageTiger
Andrew Peacock, CTO, PageTiger

Join Alfie and Andrew for an honest conversation between a junior dev and a CTO about landing your first tech role. The reality is that getting your foot in the door is nothing like they told you it would be. You’ll hear about rejection, the overwhelming reality of your first real codebase, and why juniors still matter in the age of AI.

Both talks will be followed up with a Q&A session

This event is run by Digital Lincoln as part of UK Tech Week, showcasing the regional tech innovation, expertise and talent that exists across the UK.
