Undocumented Security Analytics Skills: Insights from the field

CompTIA’s Chief Technology Evangelist, Dr. James Stanger, has spent much of the last year working with security analysts and their hiring managers around the world. SOC leaders from Manhattan to Mumbai, from Washington D.C. to Wellington N.Z., and from Cambridge to Kingston have asked him to help educate their SOC teams in the latest skills. Throughout his travels, he has noted that hiring managers are looking for skills that, well, just don’t find their way into job requisitions or even typical coursebooks very often.

Join James to learn about these unique, undocumented skills, including beyond-the-SIEM analytics, visualization, and how to relate the significance of an attack once it is recognized. In his report, James will relate insights gained from security leaders such as Mike Geraghty (the CISO for the State of New Jersey), Amorn Chomchoey (Secretary-General, NCSA Thailand), and Riaz Khimji (Service Manager for Oxford University). Most importantly, Dr. Stanger will provide insights into how workers have obtained these in-demand, unique security skills.
