About our speaker
Claudia works as a freelance front-end developer, focusing on the implementation of modern web applications, primarily using React, Vue, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS. She has over ten years of experience working in various agencies and contributed to numerous software solutions for the automotive industry.
Her interest in accessible software development was sparked during her studies, and through her work at a center for blind people, she saw firsthand how essential digital accessibility is for an inclusive society and how important it is to consider these aspects early in development.
Presentation Description
Just in time before the German Accessibility Law (Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz – BFSG) comes into effect on June 28th, we are focusing on accessibility. The law mandates that certain web applications be accessible. But how do you get started with digital accessibility from a technical perspective? What best practices have been established, and what knowledge is necessary to design inclusive web applications?
In Claudia’s talk, she explains what really matters when it comes to accessible web applications: What does semantic HTML mean, and why should JavaScript developers also be familiar with it? When are ARIA attributes useful? And why is it crucial to engage with designers and customers early on?
Info
Digital Women’s Night is a community initiative by Coworking Nuremberg and Noblesse Oblique, taking place every first Thursday of the month at Coworking Nuremberg from 5:30 p.m. Together, we provide FLINTA\* a low-threshold entry into the digital industry, offer a safe space for all kinds of questions, and connect women with each other – because working hand in hand is always more fun.
Our program, which looks at both technical and cultural issues, aims to find pragmatic solutions. Interested parties of all genders and knowledge levels are welcome.
We begin the evening with a keynote speech from a rotating group of speakers, followed by a thematic speed-dating session. After that, there will be plenty of time for informal discussions. If you have a topic request or know a speaker who definitely deserves to be on stage, please send us a DM.
Note: Due to stairs, the venue is not fully accessible.
