LET’S GO FLY A KITE! (and eat pizza🍕)

This is a two part activity that begins at one location and ends at another. We will begin at Huffman Metropark and end at Joe’s Pizzeria. Please read to the end of the description for the second location address.

🪁Whether you are an expert in atmospheric thermodynamics, nostalgic about days past, or just want to get out of the house, come enjoy the great outdoors, get your George Banks on, and fly some kites at this family friendly Meetup!
We will gather at Huffman Metropark between 12:30 PM and 2 PM. Arrive anytime.
I will be assembling kites at the shelter by the parking lot at 12:30 PM. You are welcome to bring your own kite, particularly if you have one that’s super cool 😎, but I will have plenty to share.
Then we will walk a short distance to the dam and see where the wind takes our crafts!
The park offers trails for walking, and picnic tables with seats. There are some grassy areas on the dam where you can set up your own lawn chair.
When we are through, anyone who would like to, can head over to Joe’s Pizzeria on Airway Road for a late lunch/early dinner around 2 PM. This will give you plenty of time to get to your evening activities.
If you know, you know. Don’t expect to be wined and dined at this delicious Daytonian dive, but it is definitely a local favorite!
The dining room is small, so we may have to split into smaller groups. Hopefully, it will be slow during the day and we will all be able to sit together. 🤞

NOTE: This activity is weather dependent. I will monitor conditions as the day approaches and make updates in the comments.
If conditions are not appropriate for flying kites, we can change the plan and gather at Joe’s at 12:30 PM.
