Mexican Dinner: Salina's!

Details

It's been over a year since we enjoyed a Mexican dinner in this group, and much to my astonishment it's been nearly eight years since we last visited Salina's, which is easily one of the best in the area! So I decided it is well past time for a revisit! If you haven't been there before, Salina's is a wonderful little restaurant hiding in the back of the small Clarkson-Wilson center in Chesterfield, which thankfully has expanded since I first tried it nearly two decades ago. As some of you might know, I'm not a huge Mexican food fan... but Salina's is so good that even I swear by it!

Cuisine - While "southwestern" is a generic term that more or less means a mish-mash of Mexican, Tex-Mex, and generally a lot of onions and peppers, Salina's is very specific about their cuisine. They refer to it as "Arizona-Sonora" style, which makes sense since Sonora is a northern state in Mexico, just south of Arizona. It would be difficult to describe exactly what sets this apart, although their spicing, while not hot, is incredibly flavorful. Since this is an American-influenced cuisine in the first place, it can be "authentic" while still showing the American influence. One focus they have is on everything being absolutely fresh, and it shows! Since just about everyone likes Mexican food, I think it's safe to say you'll like Salina's... I can say conclusively that their chili colorado - my go-to dish at Mexican restaurants because I like it so much - is the best I've ever tasted! You'll find a huge selection of familiar and the occasional unusual dish here, so there will be plenty to choose from. Everything I've tried has been fantastic!

Cost - One nice thing about Mexican food is that it's usually a pretty good deal, and Salina's doesn't disappoint in that regard - in fact, you might find their prices hard to believe in 2024! With virtually the entire menu in the low to mid teens, and nothing that I could find over $20, you can enjoy yourself here quite thoroughly for not a lot of coin. I think by anybody's standards that's nearly impossible to beat for such delicious food!

Other Info - Salina's is almost hidden in the back left corner of the Clarkson-Wilson Center, deceptively located the east side of Clarkson Rd just south of Wilson Rd. Plenty of free parking in the lot right out front.

I'll be looking forward to seeing lots of my West County foodies at Salina's on Monday the 26th!
