Ace Race at Pease

  • Sep 27, 2008 · 1:00 PM
  • Pease Park

Join Matt for a fun Ace Race at Pease.

Each year, disc golfers from around the globe gather at their local courses for one purpose: to throw aces!

All players are welcome!
Entry fee: $25.00

Player Package:
2 identical Ace Race discs, 1 hat, and 1 mini disc,

Grand Prize:
Ten premium golf discs & Disc golf bag

Contact Lou Moreno by 9/12/08 to reserve a package at[masked] or ][masked]

A few extras will be ordered and available on a first come/first served basis. The ace race is probably the most newbie friendly organized event out there. You only throw one disc per hole. You record an ace, metal, or you record nothing. That means even if your disc goes crazy wild, you score what most people scored on the hole.

Everyone will be throwing the same disc they have just received.

It's a zippy, small-diameter midrange. Slightly overstable with great glide... think Buzzz Junior. Will hold a line in a moderate headwind, but isn't crazy overstable or too tough to handle at slow speeds or in calm conditions. It sounds like a great disc! Get it and use it in our One Disc Challenge in November.

This event has a flex start. That means that you can get there, show up, and play some time between 1:00 and 3:00.

Last year, meet-up member Tracy won the ace race at Old Settlers and got a bag of discs to show for it. Way to go Tracy!

Rules of play:
Players are required to use the player package discs, and only these discs. If a disc is lost, the player has the option of using the second disc from the package. Only one throw per player per hole. Groups of up to eight players are generally acceptable, depending on course, time of day and TD discretion. Each player should have their own scorecard and mark "A" for aces and "M" for holes on which they hit metal.

After all players in the group have thrown, discs are picked up and the group moves directly to the next tee. Players keep their scorecards for round two, using the next line on the card to record the round.

The player with the most aces after 36 holes is declared the winner. In case of ties, the number of metal hits is used as a tie breaker. If a tie persists, a closest to the pin contest is then used to determine the event winner.

Prize package:
Grand prize for each event is a Discraft merchandise package, including a bag and ten premium discs. Events are also encouraged to offer an optional cash side pot for those who wish to participate, which is divided proportionally among the number of aces and/or metal hits.

It was nice seeing Gravitt, Dodge, Ken and not so nice seeing Matt "Wedge" Sink, haha.

OK, I officially signed up and Lou says I can pay there. I may get two player packages if they are available and make the other CTPs. JAB, I changed your RSVP to yes because, when I mentioned playing with Lou when you got your ace at the Rivery, he said you were playing in the ace race. Hope that's OK.
