Bombino has led a life dominated by flight. He fled the Tuareg camp where he was born in 1990 and ended up in Algeria. Heavily inspired by heroes such as Jimi Hendrix, Dire Straits, Ali Farka Touré and Tinariwen, he taught himself to play the guitar. His songs, sung in Tamasheq - one of the languages ​​spoken by the Tuareg nomads - reflect his life experiences. In 2018, his album Deran was nominated for a Grammy in the Best World Music Album category, and Noisey named him the best guitarist in the world.
