Secrets of the Riverside Part 1: Tower Bridge to London Bridge

The River Thames is a huge part of London's history. But what do we really know about it? And as we walk past its river banks, what are the secrets of its past? We will be discovering some fascinating stories about this stretch of the Thames and the people who lived and worked in the area throughout the past centuries.

During the tour we'll discover: the 'little ice age', the story of Father Thames; a forgotten Victorian river subway; the origins of 'Laughing your head off'; The oldest London river crossing; and much more!

We will also see iconic landmarks as well as some hidden gems tucked away from sight. Great photo opportunities! Plus some Christmas festive displays. And, of course, the tour wouldn't be complete without an execution story!

PLEASE NOTE: THERE ARE A NUMBER OF STEPS TO WALK UP AND DOWN DURING THE WALK.

This is a circular walk and we'll make our way back to London Bridge. This is a friendly group so if this is your first time, you'll be made very welcome.

★ NEAREST STATION ★
London Bridge mainline and tube station. We will meet near the station outside Pret in Tooley Street (on the opposite side of the road from the station)

★ SCHEDULE ★
11.15am – Meet outside Pret in Tooley Street
11.30pm – Start Thames tour (approx 90 minutes)
1.00pm – Finish (approx time)

Meetup fee: £8 (payable in CASH ONLY on the day at the start of the tour). If you have 'unpaid' by your name, please ignore.
