Hello Prague Discoverers!

Thanks again to everyone who took part in the part five. It was pretty amazing!

This lap of the journey around Prague will take us back to the River Vltava. We will meet at 10 am at metro C station Roztyly.

We'll start hiking along the blue trail leading us to the heart of the 'Kunraticky les' - the largest woodland in this part of Prague. Here, we'll find ruins of the gothic castle 'Novy hradek'. Built 1411-12 for the Czech king and German emperor Vaclav IV. (Wenceslas IV.) who was the succesor of his more famous father Charles IV. He died here in 1419 and at the beginning of 1421 the castle was conquered and destroyed by the Prague Hussits.

After a short stop for sightseeing we will carry on along the blue trail. From the castle the path sharply descends and after another 30 or so minutes we'll reach The Inn at Vaclav IV. They sell good ice-cream therefore we will make a stop here. After leaving the woods we will pass IKEM - one of the best hospitals in the country, specialised in multiple-organs transplantations and heart surgery.

We then cross the district of Libus, famous for SAPA - a very large Vietnamese market and community centre - nicknamed 'Little Hanoi'. We'll go there another time, it deserves its own meetup.

Otherwise Libus is not that interesting, I reckon its time will come once is connected with the city centre by metro D line. Hopefully we'll still be around when it's finished ;-)

Next is 'Modranska rokle' - a pretty natural reserve along a creek rushing to the River Vltava. It's 2.5 km of easy down the hill walking. Then one more kilometr to our final destination 'Nadrazi Modrany' standing right at the bank of the Vltava. And, as usual, we'll have a late lunch in one of the restaurants in the area.

Expected time of arrival is 2.15 pm after about 13 km of walking.

Cheers, Filip

P.S. In order to organize meetups I have to pay a meetup subscription which is $72 per half a year. That's about 300 Kc a month. I hope you don't mind contributing 20 Kc each towards this cost. Thank you very much!

P.P.S. Before signing up for the walk please read our new attendance policy:
