Vamo, formerly known as Bayonne, was a small fishing village in the early 20th Century. Bertha Palmer bought it but never developed it.Her family sold it in 1924 and two developers built 13 Mediterrannean Revival style homes on Vamo Drive before the bottom dropped out of the real estate market in 1926.

The walking tour will cover a history of the area and a view of those 13 homes plus The Vamo Lodge, circa 1900. The walk is about a mile long.

PARKING: When you turn into Vamo Drive from Vamo Rd., drive to the end of the paved road. Vamo Drive Park, 1690 Vamo Drive, is a dirt road and that's where you park. Then, walk back to the corner of Vamo Rd and Vamo Drive, which is where the tour will begin. I wouldn't advise parking on the paved road. The residents might not like it.
