The Cortez Fishing Village is one of the last working fishing villages in Florida. Most of them have been paved over and turned into condos, McMansions and other offensives uses of concrete.

This tour starts with a short history of the first familes that came to Cortez from North Carolina in the late 19th Century. We then walk to The Cortez Cultural Center to learn more about early Cortez. From there I'll take you on a tour of the homes of the early fishermen. Next is a tour of The Bell Fish House. If you haven't had enough by then, join me for lunch at The Star Fish Company restaurant. NOTE: The Star Fish Company only accepts cash, so bring lots of loot. I believe there's an ATM outside the restuarant in case you forget.
