Bike Siesta Key, Osprey Ave. and Beyond
Details
This is a slow, relaxed ride at speeds between 10-13 mph over 12-14 miles with occasional stops to look at historical buildings.
Plan to arrive at least 10 minutes before start time as the ride begins at 8:30am.
Starting from Norah Patterson Park, we'll ride to Osprey Ave and, starting at Rose St., we'll zig zag between Osprey and 41 on the Flower named streets. The first stop is Rose St. where we'll check out the last of the Lustron built homes in Sarasota. Other stops down Osprey Ave include South Poinsetta Park, a 1920s upscale development near Hillview, Southside Elementary School, little known streets off U.S. 41, back to Osprey to Rigby's La Plaza, a group of 1920 Mediterrannean Revival homes before returning to the starting point.
This ride gives you a chance to see streets you've probably only driven by and possibly a few you didn't know existed.
BRING: Road ready bike, helmet (mandatory), water, snacks, etc.
