Walk Historic Maine Colony
Details
The Maine Colony was developed in the early 1920's as a winter home for residents of Maine. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005 and includes homes built between approximately 1920 and 1955.
This tour will start with a brief discussion inside the Phillippi Crest Community Club (see photo above) and will include two videos about the community before the walk begins. The walk will be about a mile long on narrow streets with no sidewalks.
For more info, check out phillippicrestclub.com. The neighborhood is raising money to install a new roof for the clubhouse, so please consider making a donation when you arrive.
Bring suitable walking shoes and water.
PARKING:
We'll meet inside the Phillippi Crest Clubhouse (see photo above). Park on Portland St. or Portland Way, not in the grass in front of the clubhouse. I'll be on the corner of Ashton and Portland until 8:25 directing you, so arrive early.
