Information on the talks:
Kunal - What is platform engineering? The talk focuses on evaluating the trade-offs between internal development platforms (IDPs) and Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions for platform engineering. It highlights that while IDPs offer customization and better integration at the cost of significant time, expertise, and resources, SaaS solutions ensure rapid deployment and less maintenance but may lack in customization and pose security risks. The presentation aims to provide a comprehensive framework for organizations to assess these options based on various factors such as resources, cost, flexibility, scalability, security, and user experience. Attendees will learn to align their platform engineering choices with their organizational goals and priorities, informed by real-world examples and best practices.
